At Long Ditton Infant and Nursery School we recognise our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children. We make every effort to provide an environment in which children and adults feel safe, secure, valued and respected. We want to help children feel confident to talk if they are worried, believing they will be effectively listened to.

Child protection forms part of our school’s safeguarding responsibilities. This means that we have a Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy and procedures in place. All staff (including supply staff , volunteers and governors) must ensure that they are aware of these procedures. The School’s Child Protection and Safeguarding policy is available on request and is available below. 

If you are worried about a child’s welfare, please record your concern, and any observations or conversations heard, and report to Mrs Sarah Martin, DSL or in her absence to a Deputy DSL. Do not conduct your own investigation. If your concerns related to the actions or behaviour of a member of staff (which could suggest that s/he is unsuitable to work with children) then you should report this to the DSL or a DDSL in confidence, who will refer the matter to the Headteacher. If your concern is related to the behaviour of the headteacher (which could suggest that she is unsuitable to work with children) then you should contact the safeguarding governor or one of the co-chairs of Governors via the school office.
