At Long Ditton Infant and Nursery School we believe PE and Sport play a vital role for every pupil, with the potential to change young people’s lives for the better. We are very proud to have been awarded the Gold Healthy Schools Award as we feel this reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring that we value what it means to be healthy and fit.

We welcomed the Government’s announcement to continue the Sport Premium Grant.

The DfE state that 'schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer.'

This means that we should use the Sport Premium Grant to:

• develop or add to the PE and sport activities that the school already offers
• build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years

Schools receive PE and sport premium funding based on the number of pupils in years 1 to 6.

Each year, depending on Government funding and pupil numbers, Long Ditton Infant and Nursery School should receive approximately £17,150 (based on pupil number on roll for census).

Purpose of funding

• develop or add to the PE and sport activities that our school already offers
• build capacity and capability within our school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years

This year as well as increasing the amount of sporting activities we offer the children we have also planned to increase even further the teacher's knowledge and understanding of teaching the skills involved in PE and sports.
